What does the Hot Categories Hotness Ranking refer to?

Categories shown in the Hot Categories view of the Hot Research section are ranked as Hot, Very Hot or Super Hot.
Hotness ranking is assigned according to how steep the rate of increase in bids has been for the last 30 days.
